SKD vs CKD Bicycle Export Packing
SKD means Semi-Knocked Down: bicycles retain selected assemblies. CKD means Completely Knocked Down: components need assembly at destination. Agree the exact parts list and assembly work before choosing the export pack.
SKD: selected assemblies stay together
Confirm which parts are fitted before dispatch and which are packed separately. The assembly level does not replace a model-specific list of parts, hardware and work to complete on arrival.
CKD: plan component assembly
A CKD shipment supplies disassembled components for assembly at destination. Match the packing list to your assembly capability, tools, instructions and final checks before confirming the order.
85% SKD packing
Single and double packs are available for selected configurations. Confirm the included assemblies, protective materials and assembly work required at destination.
AB cartons and CKD
Discuss AB cartons for three or four bicycles, with or without wheel lacing, and fully disassembled packing. Choose based on your assembly capability and the selected models.
Plan the shipment
Request carton dimensions, gross/net weight, units per carton and container loading quantities for the final specification. Tianjin is the usual departure port; Qingdao is an alternative to discuss.
Choose by assembly needs
Start with what your destination team can assemble and inspect, then compare the packing options. A smaller shipping footprint is not automatically a lower total cost.

Define the work at arrival
For 85% SKD, establish the exact detached-parts list and final assembly work. For an AB carton, identify the three or four complete bicycle sets and whether wheel lacing is included. For CKD, plan component assembly, tools and final checks. Use the comparison below to match the format to your actual operation.
Compare the whole shipment
Request carton dimensions, gross and net weight, units per carton and loading assumptions for the same model and quantity under each packing option. Compare freight, destination handling, assembly labour and protective materials together. Wheel size alone cannot determine a reliable 20GP or 40HQ loading quantity.
Identify every configuration
A mixed-size or mixed-colour order needs clear carton identification so the receiving team can separate complete sets. Include model, size, colour and quantity in the packing brief. Tianjin is the usual departure port; discuss Qingdao and the scope of the quoted shipping terms when preparing the order.

Coordinate assembly level, protective inserts and carton specifications before shipment.
